A Unique Middle Years Program
Starbuck Hockey Academy is an exciting opportunity for grades five to eight
students, boys and girls, to attend a school where strong leadership
skills, integrity, sound character and hard work ethic are instilled in our
youth. The focus of the program is engage the students in their academic
learning through their enthusiasm for the game of hockey and other athletic
activities.
Located 12 minutes west of Winnipeg on Highway #2, Starbuck Hockey Academy
offers students one hour of professional hockey school instruction for 100 days
between late September and March. This is possible through a partnership between
the Red River Valley School Division, Starbuck Recreation Board, Hockey Canada
and the Starbuck Hockey Academy Parents Committee, Inc. (SHAPCI)
Enrollment in the program is limited, and all
openings have been filled for the 2011-2012 school year.
Transportation is available. Priority is
given to Starbuck School Students, and then to Divisional (RRVSD) students.
Special consideration is also afforded to siblings of former
students, and we strive for gender equality. This priority
remains in effect until the academy is at an acceptable student
number.
Fees for the 2010-11 year have been set at $1200.00 per student which covers
the cost involved in operating the on-ice component of the program including ice
rental and professional hockey instruction. Fees for the 2011-12 school year
will be announced in the spring.
